Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca is credited with more Blue Flag beaches than anywhere else in Europe. There are many vibrant seaside resorts for families and sun worshippers to enjoy. The region is rich in historic towns and cities. To the north you will find the medieval fortress town of Peñiscola and to the south Alicante, which is dominated by the huge Moorish Santa Barbara Castle. Further south still, is Elche, an attractive city famous for its forest of a million palm trees. Other places of interest include Guadalest which is perched high in the mountains, Altea, where you can see the famous blue and white domed church and Calpe with its Peñon de Ifach jutting out into sea. In contrast, Benidorm is a haven of entertainment, with something to suit all tastes. The entertainment varies from cabaret bars to tea dances and discos to theme parks. Aqualandia, Mundomar, Terra Mitica and Terra Natura are very popular to visitors of all ages. In addition, the Costa Blanca can provide an action packed sporting holiday. There is every kind of water sport, tennis, golf, climbing, hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. Alternative, tourists can enjoy a host of wildlife or simply enjoy the local gastronomic delights and good wine.
